I think it's too risky to overclock unless your confident that nothing bad is going to happen.

I mean technically you should be safe as long as you don't overclock it too much, but if something goes wrong, I'm not sure if your warranty will cover it as the hardware was intended to run at the standard rate, not your overclocked settings.

But if your tight on cash, it may be the best way to get that extra performance boost.

The warrenty wont help you if you overclock thats for sure :D, It takes quite alot of heat before you burn it, thats why you overclock step by step ( small steps ).
Maybe you overclock 100Mhz to start with, if you want to be really sure you run this for a day with a few tests such as gaming etc if its stable and the heat isnt too much then you can procceed another 100mhz and do that over and over again til you hit the roof :D

Hi I'm new to the forum but anyway

If you have AMD 64's Dont bother they crash

but if you have a Intel Dual Core Or even a Intel Quad Core youll be fine

i have a intel dual core and i go from 2.8 Ghz To 3.6Ghz No problem

So i Recommend Doing is pretty much step by step fsb raising

Default should be 200 so just raise by 5 and restart PC to see if windows will boot!!

My peak is 240 so all you have to do is experiment !! to see what your peak cpu speed is!

havefun!

I've never overclocked my CPU but that's because I don't know how.
I hear most manufacturers purposely underclock CPUs just to sell them so they can continue doing upgrades to sell newer and faster ones..

The Core 2 Duo series is a prime example. I've seen a 1.4ghz go up to 2.6ghz overclocked and run fine...a 2.4 go to a 3.2ghz fine as well.
